REsources: For Minority Groups

Mental health in minority groups is often overlooked. There are fewer resources and fewer therapists that tend to the mental health needs of minority groups. This is something the Mind Games team feels very passionate about promoting, so we hope to continually expand this list of resources.

Black Therapists Rock
A movement and community that supports Black mental health professionals and the healing of Black communities. Their mission centers on dismantling barriers to psychological wellness, fostering collective empowerment, and uplifting therapeutic leaders of color.

Indian Health Service
The Indian Health Service, a federal health agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, provides comprehensive health services—including mental healthcare—to American Indians and Alaska Natives. Its mission is to raise the physical, cognitive, social, and spiritual health of Native communities to the highest possible level.

MannMukti
A nonprofit storytelling platform created in 2017 to normalize mental health conversations within the South Asian diaspora. “MannMukti,” which means “mental liberation” in Hindi, encourages open dialogue, removes stigma, enhances awareness, and promotes self-care through personal narratives and community engagement.

Melanin and Mental Health
Founded by two women of color, this organization connects Black and Latinx individuals with culturally competent therapists. Their mission includes promoting healing and growth within these communities via an online directory, resources, and events.

Mental Health in Rural Areas Toolkit
Developed by the Rural Health Information Hub, this toolkit includes seven modules aimed at helping organizations build, evaluate, implement, and sustain mental health programs in rural areas. SAMHSA

Rural Suicide Prevention Toolkit
A resource compiled to assist organizations in implementing evidence-based suicide prevention initiatives in rural U.S. communities. It offers multiple modules—including program models, implementation tips, evaluation tools, sustainability planning, and dissemination strategies. Rural Health Info

SAIGE
SAIGE is a national, nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to advancing the recruitment, retention, and professional development of American Indian and Alaska Native professionals working in government and allied sectors. It promotes leadership, cultural identity, and policy advocacy in federal service.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA)
A U.S. federal agency under the Department of Health and Human Services, SAMHSA leads national efforts to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness. Through programs like the Zero Suicide Framework and various toolkits, SAMHSA emphasizes prevention, quality care, and systemic support for mental health. SAMHSA+1Rural Health Info

The Trevor Project
A leading U.S. nonprofit that focuses on suicide prevention and crisis intervention for LGBTQ+ youth. The organization offers 24/7 helplines, chat services, educational resources, and advocacy efforts to promote safety and acceptance.

Therapy for Black Girls
Founded by clinical psychologist Dr. Joy Harden Bradford, this mental health platform provides culturally affirming resources tailored to Black women and girls. It includes a popular podcast, therapist directory, blog, and Facebook “Thrive Tribe” community—aimed at reducing stigma and normalizing mental wellness.
